The Nijmegen Four Days Marches is the largest walking event in the world. 47,000 participants, for four days, up to 50 km a day. Training your legs is one thing — but how do you take care of your feet?
1. Start breaking them in early.
Wear your walking shoes for shorter distances weeks in advance. Blisters are caused by friction in areas your foot isn't used to yet.
2. Choose the right socks.
Merino wool or technical walking socks prevent moisture and friction. Avoid cotton socks — they retain moisture.
3. Recovery starts in the evening.
After every training day, your feet need rest and recovery. VELOUS recovery sandals are designed for exactly this moment: ergonomic footbed, soft support, and immediate relief after intensive use.
4. Taping and blister prevention.
Get to know your feet. Tape vulnerable areas preventively before you start.
5. Hydrate your feet.
Dry skin tears more easily. Use a foot cream in the evening during your training period.
VELOUS tip: Pack your sandals in your backpack for day 1. After the finish, step straight into comfort. View our collection for the ultimate preparation for your hiking trip.
